All or Nothing

Hello world! Welcome to my “Tad Bit Crunchy” blog.

My hope is to sell the idea that better health and wellness is easily within reach for you and your family (and your friends, and your coworkers, and your pets! Bring them all!).

Today I want to debunk the idea that a healthy, natural lifestyle is all or nothing.

We’ve seen the inspiring crunchy, granola, hippie, all green, millennial family striving to self-produce everything from their own food to clothing to cleaning supplies and to leave no carbon footprint by using electric vehicles charged by solar power and plant oils, which they all discuss after family sunrise meditation and yoga sessions. Ok, I’m exaggerating slightly, but you get what I mean.

How many of us look at that scenario and think,

“That’s just not practical.”

“That takes waaaay too much effort.”

“I wouldn’t even know where to start.”

“I don’t have time for that.”

“But I really like Chick-fil-A.”

“I didn’t have all of that growing up and I turned out just fine.”

We look at some of those very devoted households and think that we either have to wake up at 5 AM to prepare a homemade, organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, dairy-free, breakfast with flax seeds and goji berries for the family, OR serve a poptart on the way out the door at 8:29.

I’m here to tell you that it’s NOT all or nothing. There are endless options in between and making a few enhancements here and there can for real change the quality of your life.

The balance for me is what I’m calling, “a tad bit crunchy.” Making simple and easy adjustments in me and my family’s life has completely been a game-changer for us. I love to share my “hippie” ideas and how I think they’re a positive direction for us all.

So why not start a blog and find others out there who are like me?

Are you:

An undercover hippie?

Crunchy on the edges?

Granola at heart?

Tree hugging?

Organic enthusiast?

An avid plant admirer?

A secret meditater?

Or maybe you’re not any of those things, but you’re wanting to teach your kiddos coping skills when they’re struggling with anger or nightmares, wondering if your teen’s acne really is “normal,” wanting to find more peaceful sleep without always taking a prescription, or wondering if your brain fog really is “baby brain” leftover from having kids.

We’ve considered many symptoms “normal” for so many years that we actually believe that they’re just something we have to deal with or that we have to take a medication for. Soon they feel like part of our identity and we don’t take them for the warning signs that they are.

By making simple adjustments in our home, we’ve been able to clear up some (many) of the conditions we otherwise would have lived with forever.

My point being that we have options that could improve our daily (and nightly) life. The road to better, more natural health doesn’t have to be all or nothing. It can look and feel like a unique and perfect balance for you.
